HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-01-28 Board of Public Works Minutes 11 Reading, i:ass., January 28, 1952 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received two letters from residents of Evergreen Road (Crawford and Carlson) referring with regret to the hearing held January 21, 1952 and urging that Board act favorably on the acceptance of Evergreen Road. Received letter from -Mr. John Wiseman, 132 Oak Street relative his -action of pumping water onto the street and referring to general drainage problems in this area. Received letter from Alan Steeves, 134 Wakefield Street re- lative to the drainage conditions on Wakefield Street abutting his property. Board will investigate Conferred with Mr. Louis Davis to set date for meeting with Sub Committee of Finance Committee. Agreed to meet with Sub Committee on Friday Egening, February 1, 1952 at 7:00 P. M. Received petition from thirteen abuttors on -Glenmere Circle requesting that part of this street be accepted as a public way. Voted to inform petitioners that the Board is forced, with sincere regret, to deny the petition. Held hearings for pole locations at 8:00 P.M. 1 iz Following persons present. ' Harvey Wasserboehr - No objections ' Voted following pole locations J. 0. Pole - 83/49 - South St.-Northerly Side-145 feet from angle. J. 0. Pole - 231/3 - .Harvard street-Opposite Essex St. J. 0. Poles - 83/41 - 83/42 - South St. - North Side- West of Gleason Road Received letter from State Department of Public Works listing State and County allotments for 1952. Following Bituminous Concrete Side Walk applications, re- ceived, alvoved and placed on file. // Marshall D. Pulsifer„Jr. - 59 Minot Street Received formal letter of resignation from Ms. James E.Calvin Voted to accept resignation .with regret and to write Mr. . Calvin to that effect. Voted to recommend to the Town the acceptance of Evergreen Road as a public way. . Voted to lay on table the acceptance of Boyce Street as a public way. Board adjourned at 9:15 .P.M.
