HomeMy WebLinkAbout1942-03-23 Board of Public Works Minutes am, 1.86 Reading, Mass., March 23, 1942 1 The regular meting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Davis, Brophy, Lothrop, Teer and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted to offer $150.00 to the estate of Frank Strout for the oil burner at Mill St, house. Received letter from R.I. Rideout requesting sewer extension on Harrison Street. Voted to hold a hearing as soon as plans can be prepared. Hearing at 8:00 P.M, on following pole locations and under- ground locations. Lowell St, at Puritan Road (underground) - approved. Lewis St.-the first 5 poles on northerly aide westerly from West St. - approved. Cross St. - 2 poles at North west Corner of Ash St. - dissapproved Mr. Robert Mount present - objects to pole locations at corner of Cross & Ash Streets. Following pole locations approved. Lewis Street - same as above. Strout Ave. - Poles 185/1 to 185/12 both inclusive - changed from T or R to J. 0. Grove Street - Poles 31/49 to 31-69 both inclusive - changed from I or R. to J.O. 18'7 Following Granolithic sidewalk application reciived, approved and placed on file: - Wendell P. Davis — 166 Woburn Street Reeived letter from Town Counsel advising that it would be illegal for payments in lieu of vacation to be paid to the estates of Frank Strout and Authur Godfrey. Voted to allot $1,000.00 in the Highway Account for Chapter 90 Maintenance to be spent in conjunction 5ith any funds which may be allotted by the State and County. Voted to increase the salaries of all regular employees five percent retroactive to January 1, 1942. Signed Orders of Taking for Harvard Street and Lewis St, as approved for acceptance by the Town Meeting as public ways. Board adjourned 9:45 P.M. (Signed) Edward A Brophy
