HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-12-22 Board of Public Works Minutes 0 1 Reading, Mass. , December 22, 1941 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened ' at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Brophy, Lindsay, Teer and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved as corrected. Voted to purchase a new comptometer. Voted to turn off the water at the property at 42 South Main Street at 12 noon on December 29, 1941, as ordered in writing by the owner of the property Mr. Carl Englund. Voted to request the Selectmen to assign a special police- man to the Sturgis skating area for a temporary period. Voted to prohibit hockey games at Birch Meadow and Sturgis except within hockey rinks. ' Voted to allow the Greater Boston United War Fund Committee to hang banners on the streets of Reading during their coming drive. Received letter from State Department of Public Works ap- proving work done under 1941 Lowell Street Chapter 90 contract. Signed commitments for following 1941 betterment assess- ments: Curbing, Sidewalks, Sewer Rouse Connections. Board adjourned 8:30 P. M. Respectfully Submitted: (Signed) Edward A. Brophy Secretary
