Reading, Mass. , August 25, 1941
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Teer and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved,
Mr. Brophy acted as chairman.
Received letter from Town Counsel stating that the purchase of
land from the- Golf Club will have to be submitted to The Town Meeting
for approval.
Voted to reconsider action taken on purchasing land from the
Golf Club and to lay the matter on the table.
Voted to extablish a rule that no motions will be made while
any person other thaffi a Board member is present.
Voted to petition the Selectmen to hold a special Town Meeting
on September 15, 1941, for the purpose of raising funds for the Water
Department.
Received letter from the State Department of Public Works
approving the work done under the Farm to Market contract.
Voted to authorize Superintendent to purchase a set of roller
wheels from the Buffalo Springfield Company if, on inspection, they
prove satisfactory.
Received petition from some of the abutters on Dustin Road
for the establishment of lines and grades on Dustin Road from Lowell
Street to Bradford Road.

Voted to prepare plans and hold hearing.
Received petition from some of the abuttors on Harvard ,
Street requesting the acceptance as a public way of Harvard St,
between John Carver Road and Essex Street.
Voted to approve the construction of a practice tennis
backboard at the Birch Meadow Playground.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received,
approved, and placed on file.

Following Granite Curb applications received, approved and
placed on file.

Received letter from Louis Davis relative to insurance on ,
the Bay City Shovel.
Matter referred to the Insurance Committee.
Signed plan for extension of gas main on Fairmount Road.
Board adjourned at 9:15 P. M.
