Reading, Mass„ May 5, 1941
The regular- meeting of the Board of Public Works opened '
at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs, Davis, Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Teer and Super-
intendent present,
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from John Harriman, Mill St. North Reading
requesting permission tot ake water from a 10" driven well which is
part of the well system of the Mill St, station but which is not now
used by the Town.
Voted to allow such a connection, with the understanding that
Mr. Harriman will stand all expense. Also that a check valve will be
installed and that the Town of Heading assumes no responsibility of
any kind. Also the well shall hot be used for human consumption ,
until it has been tested by the State Department of Public Health.
Mr. Winthrop Parker to see Board in regard to fence in
front of the property of Galen Parker at the corner of Main & Charles
Street.
Board will investigate.
Received interrogation from Dr. Brands asking if Board will
approve a 36 ft. Board of Survey layout for Brands Court from the end '
of the present layout to Linden St. Board voted not to approve a 36
ft, layout.
Hearing at 8:00 P. M. under Board of Survey on the proposed
lines and grades for Wadsworth Road and Whittier Road.
Mr. Benoit and Mr. Thistle, present and in favor.
No one present opposed.
It was voted, four to one, to approve the proposed linea
and grades. -

Mr. Teer requested that he be recorded as opposed to the
' approval.
Received request from Mrs, Batchelder, Franklin St, asking
that Board repair wall in front of- her property.
Voted to repair wall.
Considered bids for- hoist body and tool box for new chevrolet
chassis.
Voted to buy above from Laing Chevrolet Company at their bid
price of $410,00.
Received letters from State- Department of Public Works relative
to State allottments for 1941 Chapter 90 construction and maintenance.
Following Granite Curb applications received, approved and
placed on file.

' Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved
and placed on file,
Henry Holmes - 16 Gardner Road
James Brown - 76 Pearl Street
Raymond Lally - 6 Gardner Road
Voted following abatements on April 1941 Water Bills,
J. A. DeMarchi - Haverhill St, ��n+j 00
Henry T. Noel - Haverhill St. - $!{..00
Received petition from three property owners on Sanborn Lane
requesting that Sanborne Lane be accepted as a public way.
Voted to hold informal hearing shortly.
Received letter from Finance Committee inviting the Board to
general meeting of all Town Boards on Friday evening, May 9, 1941 at
' 1130 F. M, to consider the problems arising from real estate developments,

Voted to hold hearings covering the installation of
Granolithic Sidewalk construction on the East side of Lowell St.
from Highland St. to Hanscom Ave. and on the South side of
Prescott St. from Lincoln St. to Pratt St.
Conferred with Selectmen relative to Granolithic W.P.A. '
sidewalk construction.
It was agreed that this Department will submit a list of
locations abutting public properties in front of which granolithic
sidewalks could be constructed.
Board adjourned 10:15 P.M.
