Davis, Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Teer and Super- intendent Welch were present. . Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted to ask for prices on a 3/4 Ton Pick-Up Truck. Voted to ask for prices on a lz Ton Truck chassis and cab. Voted to ask for prices on a special body for the above Aff ton truck chassis. Voted to allot $1,000.00 from the Highway Account for Chapter 90 Maintenance to be used in conjunction with State and County Funds. Chairman appointed a sub-committee composed of Mr. Brophy and Mr. Lothrop to investigate conditions at Mineral Street Bridge and report to Board. Voted to advertise for bids for a power shovel. Voted following pole locations: 7 existing poles on Warren Avenue changed from T.R. to J.O. Board adjourned at 9:15 P.M. Respectfully Submitted: (Signed) Edward A. Town of Reading March 1941 REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE RELOCATION OR ALTERATION OF THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHLAND STREET AND BANCROFT AVENUE The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading, having determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that the public highways be laid out , relocated or altered as and in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all require- 9 ments of law relating to notice to owners of land thereof, and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing, and then and there heard all persons present who desired to be� heard have 1--id out , relocated or altered as public highways for the use of the Town the Intersection of Highland Street and Bancroft Avenue. The boundaries and measurements of said public highways as so laid out , relocated or Fltered are as follows: Beginning at a point on the Westerly side line of said Highland Street , said point being N. 260 - 471 W. , measured along said Westerly side line of Highland Street , a diet-nce of 115.33 feet from a Stone Bound set in said Westerly side line of Highland Street at the Easterly terminus of the division line between lands of E. Vernon Sillars and land now or formerly of Fome Owners Loan Corp; Thence by a curved line North and West , having a radius qf 14.90 feet , and through lands of said E. Vernon Sillers a leng'th of 39.36 feet to a point of tangent on the Easteriy side line of Banrroft Avenue, said point being N. 1 0 - 39 ' E- , me�sured along said Easterly side line of Bancroft Avenue, a distance of 120.43 feet from a Stone Bound set in said Easterly side line of Bancroft Avenue at the Westerly terminus of the division line between lands of said Sillars and, lands now or formerly of said Rome Owners Loan Corp; 0 Thence N. 1 391 E- , along said Easterly side line of Bancroft Avenue, a distance of 39.02 feet to a point ; -2- Thence turning and running N. 810 - 271 E. , still by lands of said Sillars , a distance of 9.13 feet to a point on the Westerly side line of said Highland Street ; Thence S. 260 - 471 E. , alone said Westerly side line of Himhland Street , a distance of 39-36 feet to the point of beginning. The approximate area taken is four hundred eighty (480) square feet . The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan entitled "Alteration of the Intersection of Highland Street and Bencroft Avenue , Reading, Dees . ," dated February , 1941 , Board of Public Works , Philip Welch, Supt. , said Plan beinP: a part of this description. We Ward damages sustained by reason of this taking for this alteration and relocation to E. Vernon Sillars in the sum of Fifty Dollars . No betterments are to �- e assessed for this improvement. REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT OF COUNTY ROAD The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having determined • and adjudged that comm-:on convenience and necessity require the laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, substantially in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all reeuirements of law relating to notice to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way for the use 2 of the town running in a(southerly direction from the Southerly terminus of County Road and the Westerly terminus of Howard Street as accepted as. public town ways at a town meeting held March 19, 1934, substantially as and in the location of a portion of the private way known as Old County Road, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows: Z (Beginning at the Southwesterly extremity of County Road as accepted March 19, 1934 as previously mentioned herein; Thence the Westerly side line of this layout runs S. 140-42t-40" E. , through lands of Merle W. Farr, a dis- tance of 265.44 feet to a point; Thence turning and running N. 750-171-20" E. , still through lands of said Farr, and through lands of Ruth E. Mathews, the Southerly line of this layout runs a distance of 40.0 feet to a point situated in land of said Mathews; Thence turning and running N. 140-42'-40" W. still through lands of said Mathews, a distance of 161feet to a point of curve; J - 2 - Thence by a curved line to the Right, having a radius of 1114.51 feet, still through and by lands of said Mathews, a length of 99.85 feet to the beginning of another curved line; Thence by a curved line to the Right, having a radius of 2036 feet, again through lands of said Mathews,. a length of 30.24 feet to a point on the Southerly side line of said Howard Street; Thence S. 750-31 ' -30" W. , by the said Southerly side line of Howard Street, a distance of 5.08 feet to a point of curve; Thence by a curved line to the Left, having a radius of 20.0 feet, still by said Southerly side line of Howard Street, a length of 29 .61 feet to the Southeasterly extre- mity of County Road as accepted. March 19, 1934; Thence S. 800-421 -2011 W. , by the Southerly terminus of County Road as accepted aforesaid, a. distance of 40.0 feet to the point of beginning. The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan en- titled. "County Road, Reading, Puss. , " dated February, 1941, Board of FPublic Works, Philip Welch, Superintendent, said Plan being a part of this description. ) We determine that no damages will be sustained by any person or persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for this im- provement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and bet- terments are to be assessed therefor. This laying out so made by us, we hereby report to the Town for acceptance andrecommend that said way shall thereafter be known as a Zee public Town Way and named,/County�Roa.d,/ and that the sum of Five HundPed and Ten (510.00)) Dollars be raised and appropriated for said laying out and for the construction of said way. �.> .� tl�, Chairman Members of the "�-
