HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-03-07 Board of Public Works Minutes 111 Reading, Mass., March 7, 1941 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs, Davis, Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Teer and Super- intendent Welch were present. Members proceeded to organize for ensuing year. Mr. Davis reelected as Chairman. Mr. Brophy elected Secretary. Mr. Welch reappointed as Superintendent at same salary. Voted to allow Mr. Lawton Holmes of 226 Pleasant Street to connect his property with the common sewer in Pleasant Street. As his mother' s house is now connected with his house it will be re- quired that he give the Department ane asement on his land covering the location of the drain connection. Received letter from Carl Englund, 45 So. Main Street to the effect that he will not be responsible for water bills of his tenant at 42 So. Train St. Superintendent instructed to write Mr. Englund to the effect that the water bills at the property at 42 So, slain Street will be collected in the usual manner. Voted to authorize Superintendent to appear at Legislative hearing in regard to Stoneham-Reading By-Pass and register the Board in favor of same. Received letter from Anthony Ross & Son in regard to a second hand Portable Generator which they wish to sell. Superintendent to investigate. 112 Voted pole locations as follows; Pole for N.E.T. & T. Co. on Winthrop Ave. 100 ft. southerly from Hartshorn St. All poles on Pearl St. between Main St. & Franklin St. changed from T. of R. to J. 0. All poles on Lawrence Road and Hampshire Road changed from T. of R. to J. 0. All poles on Hillside Road changed from T. of R. to J.O. Voted to ask bids on Gasoline and Oil requirements for 1941.
