The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Brophy, "indsay, Williamson and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Hearing at 8:00 P. M. under the Board of Survey on the
approval of lines and grades for County Rd. from Howard St, to West St.
Following persons present:

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT OF
WESCROFT ROAD
The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reeding having deter-
mined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the
laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the
assessment of betterments , substantially in the location hereinafter de-
scribed, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice
to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met at
the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard
all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way
for the use of the town running in a Southwesterly direction from West
Street , slightly north of Woburn Street , to County Road, substantially
as and in the location of the private way known as Weecroft Road, the
boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows:
Beginning at a point in the Westerly side line of West
Street , said point being N. 130 - 15 ' - 40" W. , measured
along said Westerly side line of West Street a distance of
59.31 feet from a Stone Bound set at the Northerly terminus
of a curved line having a radius of 257.64 feet and a
length of 75.71 feet ;
Thence by a curved line to the Left , having a radius
of 20.0 feet , by lands of George P. McSheehy and George W.
Page, Trustees of the Wescroft Developing Trust , a length
of 34.23 feet to a point of tangent;
Thence S. 650 - 32 ' - 40" W. , still by said Trustees '
land, by lands of William A. Welch and Harriett T. Welch,
Paul H. Miner an Gladys D. Miner , Lee T. Johnson, Bertha
B. Reynolds and. rances K. Reynolds, and other lands of
S said Trustees, a distance of 1584.62 feet to a point of

radius of 20.0 feet by other lands of said McSheehy and
Page , Trustees, a length of 28.06 feet to a point of
tangent;
Thence N. 680 - 32 ' - 40" E. , still by lands of
said Trustees, by the Southerly terminus of a Private
Way known as Overlook Road, by other lands of said Trustees ,
by the Southerly terminus of Coolidge Road, and by other
lands of said Trustees, a distance of 1609.10 feet to a
point of curve;
Thence by a curved line to the Left , having a radius
of20.0 feet , still by lends of said Trustees , a length of
27.86 feet to a point on the Westerly side line of said
West Street ;
Thence in a Southerly direction, by a curved line in
said Westerly side line of West Street having a radius of
875.0 feet , a length of 30.54 feet to a Stone Bound set at
the Southerly terminus of said 875.0 foot radius curve;
Thence S. 130 - 15 , - 4o" E. , still by said Westerly
side line of West Street , a distance of 49.69 feet to the
point of beginning.
The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan
entitled "Wescroft Road, Reading, Mass." , dated February 1941, Board of
Public Works , Philip Welch, Superintendent , said Plan being a part of
this description.
We determine that no damages will be sustained by any person
or persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for
this improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done
under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments,
and betterments are to be assessed therefor.

iThis laying out so made by us , we hereby report to the
Town for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter
be known as a Public Town Way and named Wescroft Road, and that the
sum of be raised
and appropriated for said laying out and for the construction of
said way.

A PORTION OF COOLIDGE ROAD
The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reeding havigg de-
termined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the
laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the
assessment of betterments, substantially In the location hereinafter de-
scribed, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice
to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met
at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there
heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a
town way for the use of the town running in a Northerly direction from
Wescroft Road to a point North of Springvale Road, substantially as and
in the location of a portion of the private way known as Coolidge Road,
the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as
follows:
The Southerly line of this layout commences at a point
at the intersection of the South-Easterly terminus of the
Easterly side line of said Coolidge Road and the Northerly
side line of said Wescroft Road, said point being S.130 _151 _
40" Ed, 6.39 feet , s. 680 - 32t - 40" W. , 85.0 feet , and
N. 21 - 27 ' - 20" W. , 20.0 feet from a Stone Bound set at
the Southerly terminus of a curved line in the Westerly line
of said West Street having a radius of 875.00 feet; f
Thence S. 680 - 321 - 40" W. , by the Northerly side
line of said Wescroft Road, a distance of 400.00 feet to a
point ;
Thence turning and running in an Easterly and Northerly
direction, by a curved line in the Westerly side line of said
Coolidge Road having a radius of 180.0 feet , and by lands of _
George P. McSheehy and George W. Page, Trustees of the Wes-
croft Developing Trust , a length of 282.74 feet to a point
of tangent ;
Thence N. 210 - 271 - 20" W. , by the Easterly terminus

a distance of 100.0 feet to a point ;
Thence turning and running N. 680 - 32 ' - 40" E. , a
distance of 40.0 feet to a point , this line being the
Northerly terminus of this layout ;
Thence turning and running S. 210 - 27' _ 20" E. , by
other lands of said Trustees, and by lands of Norman R.
Thompson and Elsie E. Thompson, a distance of 100.0 feet
to a point of curve ;
Thence by a curved line running in a Southerly and
Easterly direction in the Easterly side line of this lay-
out, having a radius of 180.0 feet , still by lands of said
Thompson &ux, by lands of George W. Page and Phyllis Page ,
and other lands of said Trustees , a length of 282.74 feet
to the point of beginning.
The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan
entitled "Coolidge Road, Reading, Mass . " , February 1941, Board of Public
Works , Philip Welch, Superintendent , said Plan being a part of this de-
ecription.

assessment of betterments, substantially in the location hereinafter de-
scribed, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice
to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met at
the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard all
persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way for
the use of the town running in a Westerly direction from Coolidge Road
to Overlook (Private) Road, substantially as and in the location of the
private way known as Springvale Road, the boundaries and measurements of
said way as so laid out are as follows:
Beginning at a point on the Westerly side line of Coolidge
Road, said point beinglocated at the Northerly terminus of a curved
line in said Westerly side line of Coolidge Road, having a radius of
180.0 feet and a total length of 282.74 feet;
Thence by a curved line North to West, having a radius of
20.0 feet, and by lands of George P. McSheehy and George W. Page
Trustees of the Wescroft Developing Trust, a length of 31.42 feet to
a point of tangent;
Thence S. 680- 321- 40" W. still by lands of said Trustees,
a distance of 1080.0 feet to a point of curve;
Thence by a curved line to the Left, having a radius of
28.0 feet, still by said Trustees' land, a length of 31.42 feet to
a point on the Easterly side line of said Overlook (Private) Road;
Thence North 210- 271- 20" W. , by the said Easterly side

under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments,
and betterments are to be assessed therefor.
This laying out so made by us, we hereby report to the Town
for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter- be known as
a Public Town Way and named..Springvale Road, and that the sum of
be raised and appropriated for said laying out and for the construction
of said way.

The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having deter-
mined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the
laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the
assessment of betterments , substantially in the location hereinafter de-
scribed, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice
to the owners of land thereof end of a hearing thereon, and having met
at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard
all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way
for the use of the town running in a semi-circle off West Street , start-
ing Easterly of No. 454 West Street thence running Southerly, Westerly
and Northerly to a point again on West Street Westerly of No. 458 West
Street , substantially as and in the location of the private way known
as West Hill Circle, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so
laid out are as follows:
The INTERIOR side line of said West Hill Circle commences
at a point on the southerly side line of said West Street ,
said point being N. 670 - 00 ' W. , a distance of 53.80 feet
from a stone bound marking an angle in said West Street;
From thence the said Interior line runs with a curve
to the Left on a radius of 20.00 feet ,by lands of Stanley C.
Converse and Alice N. Converse, a length of 27.23 feet to
a point of tangent ;

Hearing at 8:45 P.M. on the proposed widening and relocating
of street lines at the intersection of Highland St. and Bancroft Ave.
Following persons present:
Mr. Vernon Sillars.
Mr. Sillars will agree to relocation on the following basis:
1. He is to be awarded damages in the amount of Fifty[050.00)
Dollars.
2. The present lilac hedge is to be removed and replaced with
a double privet hedge.
3. All filling from relocation is to be dumped in a low spot
on Sillars property, spread and covered with loam.
Voted to approve agreement and to recommend that Town make the
proposed taking on the basis of the above agreement.
Signed lot layout plan for the so-called Emerson Estates at the
South east corner of Main and Forest Streets.
Signed Board of Survey plan, covering lines and grades for a
portion of County Road from Howard St. to a point 265 ft. southerly

resents 45 feet of frontage. This abatement is given in return for
four easements given to the Town by the Reading Greenhouse, Inc. in
the past.
It was voted to record Board as being in favor of the recom-
mendation which the Drainage Committee will make to the Town.
Received letter from Reading Grange inviting Board to attend
their meeting on February 26, 19111 at 9:00 P. M. at which the Town
Warrant will be discussed.
Signed committment for 1940 Granolithic Sidewalk Betterment
Assessments.
Signed report of the 'Board of Public Works on the relocating
