HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-02-03 Board of Public Works Minutes 98 ' Reading, Mass. , February 3, 1941 The regular meeting, of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs, Davis, Putnam, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous records read and approved. Mr. T. Wakefield to see Board in regard to relocating walls abutting his property on Charles St. Wishes wall built by other than W. P. A. workers. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed sewer extension on Brook St. South-Westerly from the M. D. G. manhole on Brook St, to the center line of Summer Avenue. _ Mr. Justin McCarthy ,- In favor Mrs. Justin McCarthy- In favor Mr. James Faulkner - Against Mr. Frank Merrill to see Board in regard to possible road acceptance on County Road from Howard Street to County Road. Mr. Merrill filed an application for the acceptance of the above mentioned section of roadway as a public way. Application signed by Ruth E. Mathews. Mr. Merrill also filed a letter from Ruth E. M9thews empowering him with the power of attorney to sign legal papers and to represent her at hearings relative to above mentioned application. Board will proceed with preparation of plans and hold nec- essary hearings prior to Regular Town Meeting if possible. Voted to authorize the retaining of Babe Abbott, on ah hourly ' basis, as needed, until Harold Davis returns to work. 199 Voted to increase the salary of Ernest Watson to 027.50 per week. Voted to pay Ernest Watson 02.00 per week auto allowance until, Harold Davis returns to work. • - Received form letter from State Dept. Public Works relative to State Budget allottments for Chapter 90 Const-. Allottments for Reading are as follows: State - x'15,000, County - 07,500 providing Town appropri- ation at least 07,500. - Voted to ask Town for following appropriations to be used in conjunction with State & County allettments. Lowell St. Const, - $4,500. - Charles St. " _ 03,000. Voted abatement of 010.00 on sidewalk betterment assess- ment of Leo J. Monty, 20 California Road. Bill No. 3 - Dated Dec. 16, 191+0. - Signed report of Board of Public Works on the relocation of the Southeasterly corner of Green and High Streets, a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records. Received letter of resignation from Mr. Harold W. Putnam. Letter requests his resignation from Board of Public Works• become effective March 1, 1941.
