Davis, Putnam, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Mr. Andrew Christenson to see Board in regard to sewer assess- ments against his property on Sunnyside Avenue. Requests abatement on 32 ft. Abatement taken under advisement. Mr. Earle Steele and Mr. Charles Sweetser to see Board in regard to sewer extension in Woburn St. and Gilmore Avenue. Both dis- cussed methods of connections and proposed assessments. Hearing at 8:00 P. M. on acceptance as a public way of a ' private way now known as Pilgrim Road. No one present. Voted to recommend relocation in Town. 93 Hearing at 8:30 P. M. on relocation of location lines at the Westerly corner of Washington and Prescott Streets. Mr. Moran, Mr. Thistle, Mr. Benoit to see Board in regard to proposed lot layout at the south west corner of Forest St, and Main St. No action taken. Plans as per the Board of Survey rules will be submitted later. - Letter received from Harold F. Davis requesting a leave of absence .for Military Duty, effective at midnight, Januayy 15, 1941, and toe xtend for the duration of the present emergency. Voted to grant leave of absence as requested and to �remploy him at his present position upon his discharge from active duty. Voted abetment of $2.00 on January 1941 water bill of James Gray, 420 West Street. Voted abatement of ti3.00 on January 1941 water bill of Glenn Whitney, 238 Woburn Street. Votedcomparative abatement on sewer bill of Glenn Whitney, 238 Woburn Street. Received letter from Supt, of Schools in regard to Mineral Street Bridge Sidewalk, 94 School Committee will support item in our Budget. Voted toe xtend the sewer in Woburn St, a nd Gilmore Ave. as per the plan used at the hearing held January 6,_ 19111. Signed plan showing proposed relocation of location, lines at the westerly, corner of Washington and Prescott Streets. Signed plan showing proposed relocation of location lines at the southerly corner of John and Union Streets. Signed plan showing layout of Pilgrim Road which is to be recommended to Town for acceptance as a public way. Signed report of the Board of Public Works on the relocation of the southwest corner of John and Union Streets, a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes- a part of these records. Town of Reading REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT OF PILGRIM ROAD The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments , substantially in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and hav- ing met at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard all persoUs present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way for the use of the town running Southwesterly from the existing town way known as Lowell Street to Bradford (Private) Road, substantially as and in the location of the private way known as Pil- grim Road, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows: Beginning at a point on the South-westerly side line of said Lowell Street , said point being N. 490 - lit - 0011 W. z. distance of 204.66 feet measured along said South-westerly side line of Lowell Street from a County Stone Bound; Thence by a curved line North to West , having a radius of 20.0 feet , by lands of Fred E. Hersom and Lena A. Hersom, a length of 31.42 feet to a point of tangent ; Thence S. 400 - 49 , - 00" W. , still by lands of said Feed E. Hersom and Lena A. Hersom and by lands of Sidney M. We determine that no damages will be sustained by any per- son or persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for this improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and betterments are to be assessed therefor. This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter be known -3- as a public town way and named Pilgrim Road, and that the sum of eight hundred eighty one ( $"881.00) dollars be raised and appropriated for said laying out and for the construction of said way.
