HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-12-16 Board of Public Works Minutes Aw 87 Reading, Mass., December 16, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Letter received from Retirement Board stating that they will require that deductions shall be made from all salaries appearing on payroll with the exception of these paid purely in short emergencies, such as snow storms. Voted to close Department Tuesday afternoon, December 24, 1940. Voted permit to Greater Boston Community Drive to hang banners on poles on Main St, from January 1$, 1941 to February 10, 1941. Voted following pole locations: , All poles on Sanborn St, changed from T. Of R. to N®w England Tel. & Tel. Co. All poles on Linden St. between Raven St, and Woburn St, changed from J. 0, to New England Tel. & Tel. Co. Signed following commitments to Tax Collector: Sewer Betterment Assessments on Elm St. S63reet Betterment Assessments on Eaton St. Sidewalk Betterment Assessments for 1940 Sidewalk Construction Signed Easement for water main on private way running easterly from Summer Ave. 2214 ft. southerly from the south side line of Prescott St. Motion made and seconded that. Custom Laundry be notified , that the meter now installed at the discharge of the pimp will be moved to a I 88 location on the discharge of the softener by the Department, at the expense of the Laundry, or a second meter will be installed on the waste pipe of the softener by the Department at the expense of the Laundry; whichever the Laundry prefers. Also, if in the future, it is necessary to move the meter to its original location, it shall be done by the Department, at the expense of the Laundry. Motion carried. Conferred with Town Counsel relative to overdraft in Snow and Ice Account. Conferred with Selectmen relative to overdraft in Snow and Account.
