Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Mr. George McSheehy to see Board in regard to extension of water main in Coolidge Road. Board will examine possibilities of raising funds to cover cost of extension. Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved, and placed on file. Charles O'Neil - 58 Federal St. Dana Porter - 53 Mt. Vernon St. Following Granite Curbing applications received, approved and placed on file. Charles O,Neil - 58 Federal St, Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on petition of N.E.Tel. & Tel. Co. to install underground conduit on Franklin & Haverhill Sts. Starting at pole No. 40/12 on Haverhill St, and extending westerly to pole _ No. 27/48 on Franklin St. Mr. Charles Trevor, present, representing N.E.Tel. & Tel. Co. Petition granted. Hearing at 8:15 P.M. on petition of N.E.Tel. & Tel. Co, to install underground conduit on Haverhill St, starting at pole No. 12/57 approximately 440 feet from Bay State Road and extending northerly 120 ' ft, , thence extending easterly 55 ft. W" Mr, Charles Trevor, present, representing N,E,Tel, & Tel, Co. Petition Granted, Letter received from Mr. Newell Morton notifying Board that a meeting of the Defense Committee will be held October 7, 1940 at 8:00 P.M. in Room 19, Municipal Building, Letter received from State Dept, of Public Works, notifying Board that they have allotted y1,000 for the Charles St, Reading W.P.A. Farm to Market Project on condition that the Town and County each allot a like amount. Voted to send letter to County Commissioners and State Dept. of Public Works agreeing to allot $1,000,00 for Charles St. W.P.A. Farm to Market Project to be spent in conjunction with like mnounts from State and County. Voted to- buy a new one and one half ton chassis 'and a one , and one half yard body with suitable hoist.
