The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Superin-
tendent Welch were present. _
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Voted to move bleachers from Washington St. Park to Junior
High School field.
Voted to notify School Cocrosittee that the Board of Public Works
will not be responsible for bleachers while they are on the Junion High
School field.
Voted to ask Selectmen to allot $1,000.00 from W.P.A. funds
for the purchase of 12" C. 1. Pipe for the Grove Street W.P.A. Water
Main Project.
Letter received from Finance Committee notifying Board of a
transfer of $1,600.00 from the Reserve Acct, to the Sidewalk Account.
Letter received from the Retirement Board stating that a
hearing will be held on September 19, 1940 at 8:30 P. M, to consider the
applications of John Evans, John Logan and Frank Strout for a continuance
service as provided in Section 29 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws.
Letter received from Mr. H.R.Thompson relative to the condition..
of the wall abutting his property on North Pearl Street. Board voted to
repair wall but not to cement the wall.
Letter received from County Commissioners stating that they
will contribute $1,000.00 for a W.P.A.Farm to Market prodect on Charles
St. Reading, providing the State and Town each contribute like amounts.

Voted to buy stationary compressor for garage to cost
approximately 000,00. -
Voted to buy two snow plows to cost approximately 0800,00
Voted to authorize Mr. Brophy to investigate the truck
which has been offered to the Department at a reduced price by Mr,
Howard Bussell.
Board adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
