HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-09-09 Board of Public Works Minutes . 1 67 Reading, Mass. , September 9, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened , at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Davis, eutnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previus meeting read and approved. Mr. R. Hall of Pinevals Ave, to see Board in regard to building a short wall along the street line abutting part of his property. Board agreed to construct approximately $0 ft, of rough, sloped wall to prevent rsadway filling from spilling on Mr. Hall' s land. Hearing at 8:00 P. M. N.E.T.& T. Mr. Geo. McSheehy & Mrs Charles Trevor, representing , N.E.T.&T, present. Both in favor. Locations approved. Hearing at 8:1$ V. M. N.E.T. & T. Mr. Geo. McSheehy and Mr. Charles Trevor representing N.E.T.& T. present. Both in favor. Locations approved. Mrs. Drury to see Board inregard tot he betterment assessment on lot designated as "Unknown Owner and unnumbered lot" on plan of Lawrence Rd, numbered A-10-34. Board voted to make a Board of Survey Layout covering above mentioned lot. ' 68 Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved I and placed on file, - Mr. Charles Mellen 15 Pearl St. Ethel Grant - 581 to 591 Main St. Viola Essman - 124 Hopkins St. Mr. Libby, of John Carver Road to see Board in regard to grade of street under construction in front of his property. General discussion. Notice received from Mr. James Guthrie, 41 Warren Ave, re- questing reimbursement for broken window which he claims was broken by persons playing ball on Washington St. Park. Superintendent instructed to write Mr. Guthrie that Board dis- claims any liability. Letter received from County Commissioners notifying Board that proceedings relative to the relocation of street lines on Charles St, have ' been completed with the exception of the entry. Commissioners request Board to make entry within two years and to notify them of the date of entry. Voted to make entry before January 1, 1941. Voted to hold meetings on Monday nights until further notice with the exception of Sept. 23rd. Voted to build wall in front of No. 11 Chestnut Road. This wall is a continuation of the wall built on the northerly line of No. 37 Auburn Street. Voted to raise the grade of the wall kbutting No. 76 Pearl St, to conform with the new street grade. Voted to approve proposed water main layout at Rifle Range. Dept, will read meters separately, add individual readings and submit one bill 69 Based on total readings of all meters.
