HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-07-22 Board of Public Works Minutes 61 Reading, Mass. , July 22, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs, Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved, Mr. Guy Ellison to see Board in regard to relocating North West corner of Middlesex Ave, & High Street. Mr. Essman to see Board in regard to excavating for side- walk on Hopkins St, side of his property at corner of Fairmount Rd. Board to visit location. Mr. Stallida7, Mr. Scott and Mr. Shaw to see Board in regard to sewer assessments on Pearl St. Board discussed matter of assessments with above mentioned persons at great length. Board , voted not to make any abatement on assessments. Following Granite curb application received, approved and placed on file. Edward Lappin - 20 Hillside Road. Received letter from Mrs. Frances Walsh and Mrs. Marie Day requesting extension of sewer from Eaton St, to their properties at 16 and 18 Elm St.,Hearing to be held Aug. 5,_ 1940 Received letter from Selectmen relative to displaying flag on common daily. Voted to ask Selectmen to have Police Department put up flag on Common every pleasant day until further notice. 62 ' Received letter from Selectmen relative to dispositon of cases of persons abserved dumping rubbish in forbidden locations. Received letter from John Evans requesting that he be allowed an extension of service of two years before retiring as per the provisions of Sect. 29, Chap. 32 of the General Laws. Voted to approve request and notify Retirement Board. Received letter from Warren Bros. Roads Co. quoting price of 0$8$.00 for resurfacing three tennis courts with Bituminous Concrete. Voted tosccept price and resurface one tennis court on each of following playgrounds Birch Meadow, Washington St, and Memorial Park. Board adjourned 10:00 P. M. Respectfully Submitted: (Signed) H. W.
