Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted to request Selectmen to have police hang flag on Common daily. Received reports from William Miller containing names and addresses of persons who have been observed dumping nubbins in forbidden locations. - Voted to write to Selectmen requesting information as to what action has been taken on previous reports of Mr. Millers. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed Grade Changed on Charles St. as per plan: PROPOSED CHANGE OF GRADE CHARLES STREET Reading, Mass. Received letter from Board of Seldetmen notifying Board of meeting to be held Tuesday, July 9, in Room19 to organize a Citizens) Defense Committee. Selectmen requested that three members .of Board of Public Works be appointed to serve on this committee. 760, Following members to attend above mentioned meeting: Mr. Lindsay, Mr. Brophy and Mr. Putnam. Received letter from Frank Strout requesting that he be con- tinued in the service of this Department for a period of two years, as per the provisions of Sect. 29, Chap. 32 of the General Laws. Voted to approve above and notify Retirement Board of this Departmentts approval. Voted permit to Catholic Youth Organization to play baseball on Washington St. Park on Sunday afternoon, July 21, 1940. Voted permit to Reading Town Team to play baseball on Washing- ton St. Park on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 1940. Voted to prepare a plan of corner of Highland St. & Bancroft Ave, to be us d in discussing the possibility of relocating this corner. Voted to inform County Commissioners that the Board will recommend the following Chapter 90 Construction work to the Town: 1941 - Lowell St. - $4500.00 - Charles St. 04500.00 1942 - " - $4500.00 - ft I it $4500.00 Voted to hold informal hearing on July 22 at 8:00 P.M. with abuttors on Pearl St, sewer.
