Messrs, Davis, rutnam, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved, Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file. Gertrude M. Elden - 23 Priscilla Ro*d Lawrence Munroe - 19 Lee--Street Following Granite Curbing applications received, approved and placed on file, Gertrude M. Elden - 23 Priscilla Road Lawrence Munroe - 19 Lee Street, ' Voted abatement of $;2,60 on the April 1940 water bill of Mrs. Reynolds, 13h pearl St. Received letter from the Reading W.P.A. Recreation Pr6ject requesting the use of the Soft Ball Diamond at Birch Meadow. Voted permit for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings on Birch Meadow Soft Ball Diamond for the coming season. Voted refund of $3,00 on the April 1939 water bill of Duncan Moodie, 211 Main St, Voted to raise height of fence at Washington St. Tennis Court, Superintendent to use his judgment as to height of fence and type of extension. Voted to buy approximately 300 cu, yds, of loam form Wm. Kelch & Son at a price of 90 cents per cu, yd. ' Voted to hold a hearing on May 17, 1940, covering the installa- tion of granolithic sidewalks on the following locations: n Sanborn St. y West Side, Woburn St, to Highschool Driveway- Woburn St., North side, Sanborn St, to Linden St.-Linden St. , West Side Worburn St, to Mt. Vernon St. Mr. Albert Carpenter to see Board in regard to the Meadow Brook Golf Club Corp, deeding certain lands to the Town in exchange for Department resurfacing Gal£ Club Driveway & Parking Area. Received opinion from Town Counsel that Board has authority to take an easement in these lands under the Act establishing the Reading Water Dept. Voted to take easement in this land and get confirmatAry deed from Golf Club to Town knd to ask Town Counsel to prepare necessary legal papers. Mr. John Preston to see Board-in regard to taking an easement in certain lands of Mary Emerson, of Fraiklin St., for drainage purposes. He states Mrs. Emerson will sign off to Town for $$00.00. , Voted to proceed to make taking for drainage purposes through land of Mary Emerson northeasterly from Franklin St. Signed Taking of Easement Ehrough lands of Mary Emerson at Franklin St, for drainage purposes. A copy of Taking of Easement is attached hereto and here- with becomes a part of these recx ds. Voted to ask the Town Counsel to settle the amount of award, but same not to exceed $100.00. Voted to approve following proposal in regard to electric equipment on playgrounds. A. Light Department will take over ownership 66 all electrical equipment on parks, playgrounds and skating areas for which , they will cancel a bill of $262.93 which is owed to them by the Board of -Public Works. B. In the ihture the Light Board will install extensions to 44 present equipment at their expense. ' C. The Board of Public Works will pay for electricity used and for the replacement of broken parts. Mr. George Lewis to see Board in regard to stone wall at corner of Mt. Vernon St. & High Street.
