Messrs, Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson -and Super- intendent Welch were present, ' Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from Mr. Althoff, Physical Director of High School, requesting dates for Tennis Teams of High School on Memorial Park and Birch Meadow, also requesting permission to take up voluntary collections at baseball games. Board voted following dates to High School Tennis Teams. Birch Meadow - 3 courts - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after- noons, from 3 P.M, to 5 P.M. until close of school year. Memorial Park - 2 courts - Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. until closs of shhhol yea Board voted to allow voluntary collections during High School Base ball games. Voted permission to Sailor Tom' s Restaurant to discharge sewage from his restaurant cesspool into the sewer manhole on John St, which is used generally for that purpose. Voted not to make abatement on April 1940 water bill of DEMarchi 2142 Haverhill St. Voted to contract with Wilmington Nurseries to at out shrubbery and trees in front of the Filter Plant and Pumping Station. Amt.6145.00. Received letter from Clarence Stalliday, 65 Pearl St, enclosing signed apportionment blank covering sever assessment recently served, but objecting to paying assessment, , 40' Board voted not to make any abatement on sewer assessment. Mr. Andrew Zanni to see Board in regard to persons dumping rubbish on East side of Hancock St. Board to see Board of Selectmen in. regard to the matter. Voted permit to Catholic Youth Organization to play baseball on Washington St. Park Sunday afternoon, May 5, 1944. Received letter from Willis K. Randall of 75 Cross St, re- questing permission to hang a sign over the sidewalk at 193 Haven St. The sign is one foot longer than regulations allow. Sign was f ormerly used at the former location of Mr. Randall' s business on So. i"lain St. Voted permit to hang sign at 193 Haven St, Received letter from County Commissioners stating that the order of relocation for Charles St, from Main St, to Haverhill St. will ' be prepared and signed by them in the near future. Established following rules for Sunday sports on public play- grounds. A. Only voluntary collections will be allowed. B. The Board of Public Works will not do any work on fields on Sundays. C. No vehicles allowed on fields for. any purposes. D. The Board of Public Works will not grant permits for concess- ions of any kind for Sundays. E. No double headers will be allowed on Sundays, F. No loud speakers or broadcasting systems shall be used. Received letter from Town Counsel rendering opinion that extended payments covering installation of sewer house connections cannot be ' registered at Registry of Deeds, Voted to authorize the employment of Jule Zanni as a temporary employee of the Department as a laborer and part time compressor operator, 41 Voted to purchase a new 105 cu, ft, Chicago Pneumatic Compressor from Perin Seamans Co, as per the bid filed on April 26, 191{0. Voted to appoint a sub commmittes. of Mr. Putnam and Mr. Brophy to draw a set of specifications for a mechanical grader. Signed order of taking for Lewis St, acceptance. Conferred with Board of Selectmen in regard to roadside dumping thruout Town. Selectmen to appoint a special policeman for one month to obtain evidence against o£finders.
