HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-04-05 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass., April 5, 1940. The regular meeting of the Bo-rd of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Lindsay acted as chairman. Mr. Williamson acted as secretary. _ Records of previous Ifteeting read and approved. Voted to take bids on a compressor on °pril 26, 1940. Voted to do some landscaping work at Filter Plant and pumping btution No. 2. Voted to assign three men to operating compressor. Each man to work one month on compressor and two months on ordinary work. Men to be paid sixty cents per hour while working on compressor, fifty cents otherwise. Considered advisability of adding a section to the top of the Washington St. Park backstop, Decided same not advisable. Hearing at.$k00 P.M. on the taking of land for drainage purposes from Franklin St. Easterly of Dividence Road, in a Northerly direction across lands of Mary Emerson. Hearing held under authority of Chapter 314s Acts of 1909. Following person present: Mr. John I.Preston, Attorney, representing Mrs. Mary Emerson. He will contact Mrs. Emerson to see if the matter can be settled without recourse to a taking- by eminent domain. Voted abatement of 013.16 on the October 1939 water bill of John Khorkhorian of 607 Main St. Voted abatement of 07.92 on the October 1939 sewer rental bill of John Khorkhori n,.a of 607 Malin St. Respectfully Submitted.M.
