HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-03-29 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass., March 29, 1940 The regualar meeting of the Boar d of Public Works opened at 7:30 P-M- Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from Mrs. Lila Morrison, 43 Pearl St. making claim for alleged damages to her property which she claims was caused by blasting done during the construction of the Pearl St, sewer. Matter referred to Law Committee and Town Counsel. Voted to buy new sliding chute for Memorial Park to replace present one which is. in very poor condition. 4 Received following application for granite curbing. Harold and Lena Fleming - 77 Hanscom Ave. Mr. Goerge Beasley, 37 Pearl Street to see Board in regard to damage to his lawn and shrubs during construction of Pearl Street sewer. Board agreed to do necessary work to restore same as soon as .weather per- mits- Voted to lay a 8" water main on Charles Street from Main St, to Pearl St. Received letter from Clarence Doucette requesting use of Wash- ington St. Park for the playing of baseball games on every Tuesday .and Thursday evenings and every Sunday afternoon throughout the baseball season. Board voted to issue permit for Tuesday and Thursday , evenings for 1940 Baseball Season. Permits for Sundays will nnly be issued for one date at a time. Applications for ,;Sunday dates must be made ten days in advance of date requested. Met with Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Welfard and discussed Joint problems relative to supervision of relief projects. Board adjourned 10:45 P.M.
