HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-03-08 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass„ March 8, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:3o P.M. Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson and Superintendent Welch were present. Recrods of previous meeting read and approved. Board organized for 1940 as follows: Motion made by Mr. Lindsay, seconded by Mr. Williamson that Secretary cast onb ballot for chairman and secretary. Mr. Putnam cast one ballot for Mr. Davisaschairman and Mr. Tutnam for secretary. Mr. Davis elected Chairman thereby. Mr. Putnam elected Secretary thereby. Mr. Welch appointed superintendent for ensuing year. Letter from Finance Committee informing Board of certain recommendations they have made for certain departmental budget items. � . The following persons appeared before Board in relation to drainage conditions on Franklin St, near Dividence Road. Frank Whitcomb Ralph S. Rills Joseph Bangs Eva Rills Lois M. Connor John Muir, Jr. Ruel L. Whitchurch Board voted to proceed with hearings and make takings for drainage Voted to build temporary board walk to allow pedestrians to pass safely. Letter received from Town Counsel in relation to legal aspect of claims for damages due to blasting operations during construction of Pearl St, sewer.
