The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened '
at 7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Williamson, and Superin-
tandent Welch were present.
Mr. Putnam acted as Chairman.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on acceptance as a public way of
John Carver Road from Priscilla Road to Hartshorn St.

Eaton St, registering their opposition to the acceptance as a public
way of Eaton St, between Green St, and Lakeview Ave;
Received letter from Miss Elizabeth Ahern of 76 Howard St.
notifying Board that sidewalk plow damaged her hedge during recent
storm.

JOHN CARVE'. ROAD
The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having de-
termined and adjudged th-.t common convenience and necessity require
the laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing
the assessment of betterments, substantially in the location hereinafter
described, having: complied with all requirements of law relating to
notice to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and
haling met at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and
S there heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as
a Town Way for the use of the Town running Northerly from Priscilla Road
to H=rtshorn Street, substantially . s and In the locations of the private
way known as John C--rver Fond and a -portion of the privy-te way known as
Yale Avenue, the brnmd=ries and measurements of said way as so laid out are
as follows:
Beginning at a Stone Bound set on tt_dr Northerly side line
of Priscilla Road, said Bound being S. 74 - 400R. a. distance
of 56.76 feet from . Stone Doun" sat -t "a Easterly extremity
of a curve in said Northerly side line of said Priscilla Road
having a radius of 597.45 feet and a length of 164.49 feet;
Thence by a curve East to North, having a radius of 40.0
feet , enn by lands of Hugh Fraser and Jennie E. Fraser, a length
of 95.52 feet to a point of tangent;

side line of said Hartshorn Street, by a curve having a radius
of 390.15 feet, a length of 41.29 feet to a point of reverse

Thence by a curve to the Left , having a radius of 255.52
feet , and still by said Southerly side line of Hartshorn
Street, a length of 41.37 feet to a point;
Thence by a curved line West to South, having a radius
of 15.52 feet, by lands of John A. Maxim and Hazel E. Maxim,
a length of 33.72 feet to a point of tangent;

Stone Bound set in the Northerly aide line of said Priscilla
Road;
Thence in a Westerly direction, along said Northerly side
line of Priscilla Road, and by a curve having a radius of
113.58 feet, a length of 52.36 feet to a point of tangent ;
Thence N. 740 - 40' W. , still along said Northerly side
line of Priscilla Road, a distance of 143.15 feet to the
Stone Round previously herein described at the point of
beginning.
The North-westerly corner of John Carver Road and Puritan
Road is hereby rounded with a radius of 20.84 feet Snd a length
of curve of 32.52 feet.
The South-westerly corner of John Carver Road and Puritan`- Road is hereby rounded with a radius of 20.0 feetanda length
of curve of 31.62 feet.

The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan
entitled "John Carver Road, Reading, Mass. ," Hoard of Public storks,
Philip Welch, Supt. , made under date of February, 1940, s=.id Plan being
a part of this description.
Te determine that no damages will be sustained by any person or
persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for this
improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under
the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and
betterments are to be assessed therefor.
This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town for
acceptance and recommend that said way shall be known as a public town
way and named John Carver Road, and that the sum of Two thousand seven
hundred and ten Dollars ($2,710.00) be raised and aupropriated for said
