HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-02-02 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass„ February 2, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay and Superintendent Welch Were present. Mr. Brophy acted as chairman. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Letter received from Elmer B. Nichols claiming damages for cracked ceilings and windows and other items which he alleges were caused by the blasting done during the construction of the Pearl St. sewer. Matter referred to Law Committee and Town Counsel. Petition received for the acceptance as a pbulic way of John Carver Road and a portion of Yale Ave. Hearing to be held under Board of Public Works on February 16, 1940. Voted to abate $5.00 on January 1, 1940 water bill of Lena , Cook, j4 Mt. Vernon Street. - Received treet. -Received letter from Mr, John Beal, Commissioner State Dept. Public Works, requesting Town to consider starti4g a W.P.A. Farm to Market Road Project. Voted to ask County Commissioners to make layout for Grove St, and to striaghten and widen road under a Farm to Market Project. Signed Board of survey plans for Martin Road for a distance 800 ft. northeasterly from Forest St. Also signed Board of Survey plans for Eaton St, from Green St, to Lakeview Ave, a distance of approximately 7$0 ft.
