HomeMy WebLinkAbout1925-07-24 Board of Public Works Minutes July 24, 1925. Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works. '1r Members present: John W. Owen, Joseph W. Rooth, William S. Kinsley, Miles C. Higgins and the Superintendent. An estimate of cost of 8 inch sewer construction '1► on Bancroft avenue, from Middlesex Avenue to near hit. Vernon St. , was received .from A. Cefalo and accepted. He was notified to begin work on August 11th. A request from the Malden and Melrose Gas Co. for permission to open up Salem Street for the purpose of laying a house service was refused. The street has just been repair- ed and the Board does not think it necessary to start tearing it up so soon. , The question of straightening Gould Avenue and making a sidewalk was discussed. No releases have yet been taken but it was the opinion of Mr. Owen that the abbutors affected would readily give them. There are three abbutors on Gould Street, the name �. of which is to be changed to Chester Street, that will have to release to the town. Two of these abbutors, Mr. Martin Hartshorn and Mr. Benjamin Hartshorn, are willing to release V. without expense. The other abbutor, Mrs. Margaret Ellison, is to claim damages. She has been requested to appear at a meeting of the Board to discuss the matter. *AW VOW 11r. Dewey, representing the Boari of Trade and rr Hr. Tanner, the American Legion came before the Board and requested permission to install flag poles on the edge of the sidewalks in the center of the Town. The matter was held open for decision at a later meeting. Locations for gas mains on Winthrop _Ivenue were granted the Malden and 11elrose Gas.Company. Respectfully !submitted Secretary. 'r hlv
