HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-12-26 Board of Public Works Minutes 2 '1 5 p December 26, 1924. Members present: George H. Clough, Joseph W. Booth, John W. Owen, Frank Carter, Aviles C. Higgins and the Superintendent. The following notification was received from the Town Counsel Dec. 22, 1924. The Board of Public 'd,Iorks "has juris- diction over all signs, advertising devises, permanent awnings, etc. projecting more than six inches from a building and not being appurtenances of a public service company. No sign over which you have jurisdiction as above can be maintained without a permit from your Board, andl such permits should be `, granted subject to such rules and regulations as your Board may rrescribe. You may charge a fee therefor not exceeding one dollar and may prescribe penalties for a breach of any rule or regulation not exceeding five dollars Per day. There is no liability on the Town in case of an accident resulting from the maintenance of either a legal or illegal sign" . In view of the foregoing report no permit was issued to Thr. Chamberlain to erect a sign over the sidewalk. Fermit was granted to the Kunicipal Light Board to erect ten poles on Walnut Street.
