Members present: George H. Clough, Joseph W. Booth,
John Owen, Miles C. Higgins and the Superintendent.
A comLtmicetion dated August 21, 1924 from W. Minot
Hurd, Attorney, 85 Devonshire Street, Boston was presented.
This communication, relating to alleged injuries said to have
been sustained by:- Edward Gordon

Julia A. Gordon
was referred to the Town Counsel.
The Superintendent reported that the hydrants had
been completely inspected and that in about another week
repairs would be completed and all hydrants would be in first
class condition.
The reply of the Town Counsel in regard to County
Road was received. The records of both the town and county
do not show that County Road was ever accepted as a public way.
For this reason we cannot spend money from the general
appropriation for work on this road. Money may be expended
upon such private ways if specific appropriations are passed
in Town Meeting.
The Town Counsel also advises us that the sign "Private
Way Dangerous" posted on private ways will protect the Town
{ from claims for damage incurred on such ways.
It was decided to furnish Mr. Goodnougl}, of the State
Board of Health, with a copy of Barbour and Dixon's report on
on the water situation.
✓ A hearing vias called at eight o'clock on ,Joint
petition of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co, and
the Municipal Light Plant for the erection of two poles on
Bancroft Avenue from Lowell Street northeasterly. Permission
was granted.
Voted to adjourn.
