HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-08-08 Board of Public Works Minutes August 8, 1974 Members present: Joseph W. Booth, John W. Owen, Frank Carter, Miles C. Higgins and the superintendent. A permit to locate 16 poles on Bay State Road from Salem Street to Haverhill Street, also to remove six poles was granted without a hearing. This permit was issued jointly to the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. and Municipal Light Board. A bid of ninety cents per square yard for tar sidewalk resurfacing in the Square, from John McDonough of Andover was accepted. Mr. Collins presented a list of supplies necessary for carrying on the regular maintenance in the Water Department. The Board recommended the purchase of these supplies the estimated cost being $1100.00 of which appromimately $850.00 was for meters. Many requests come in throughout the year for testing house water-meters so many in fact without justifica- tion that it has become a nuisance. The Board has therefore ruled that a charge of , 00 dollars is to be made where the results of the test do not show an error of more than percent in favor of the Town. This charge is allowed under Chapter 165, Section 10 of the General laws. Mr. Ives requests a sewer connection through Pratt Street to his home on Summer Avenue.
