HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-06-27 Board of Public Works Minutes June 27, 1924 Members present: Geo. H. Clough, Joseph W. Booth, John W. Owen, Frank Carter, Miles C. Higgins, and the Super- intendent. The Town Counselor advised, "The Board of Public Works is under no legal necessity of taking any action in the matter." This refers to a complaint received from Mr. C. A. Holcomb of #6 John Street regarding an open drain running through his property. This is a natural water course and must be kept open. Mr. Holcomb was advised as to the situation. The Building Inspector reported that the "Barn" on 4 the Playground is unsafe. Some of the flooring sills and posts must be replaced. E. A. Hurd submitted a price of $425.00 for making the necessary repairs. Mr. Collins was instructed to obtain other bids ani was given authority to let the work out to the lowest bidder. An invitation was received from the Directors of the Playground to attend the opening of Memorial Earl: on July 1st. An acknowledgement was returned. The Superintendent reported that after considera- tion, it seemed advisable because of the low rate to obtain the gravel for the Village Street work from the gravel bank in Winchester. No. 2 6/27/24 The work of hauling this gravel is to begin on June 30th. John McDonough of Andover has been given the work of reconstructing tar sidewalks on High Street between Green and Washington Streets at $1.25 per square yard.
