Members present: Geo. H. Clough, Joseph W. Booth,
Frank Carter, Miles C. Higgins, and_ the Superintendent.
A request was made by the Unitarian Society for a
sidewalk on the Summer Avenue side of their property. The
Board has recommended that a six foot tar concrete sidewalk
be constructed with a tree lawn from the outside edge to the
gutter; one half of the expense to be borne by the Town.
A communication was received from Barbour and Dixon
relative to the cost of the work of establishing Building Lines.
Because of the fact that some of the data necessary is already
available on other plans,no flat rate that is fair could be
made. Barbour and Dixon, however, propose to do the work for
r the actual wages , expense , and supplies used, plus one third
for personal services and overhead. This proposition was ap-
proved by the Board, and Barbour and Dixon were instructed to
proceed with the work, limiting the total costs to approximately
$2000, to be completed by October 31, 1924.
A petition of the Municipal Light Department and the
New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. to erect poles on Hanscom
Avenue and Tower Road was granted. A public hearing was set
for 8 o'clock in regard to the same , but nobody appeared.
The Reading Women's Club Playground Committee came
before the Board in regard to the playground materials and sup-
plies. It has been found that the "Barn" in the playground is
unsafe. It was ordered that the building be made safe at once.
Voted: To adjourn.
