HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923-07-27 Board of Public Works Minutes toy July 27, 1923. Members present; George H. Clough, Joseph W. Booth, John W. Owen, Clarence C. White and the Super- intendent. The Superintendent was instructed to have the old street railway tracks removed on Haven Street from the end of the paving to High Street and to repair the street. He was also instructed to have the hydrants re- paired, as per letter from the Chief of the Fire Depart- ment, and also any other hydrants which are not in work- ing order. He was also asked to furnish the Board with an annual report of hydrant inspection. A Hearing was held at 8 o 'clock on the petition of the New England Tel. & Tel. Company for permission to lay and maintain underground conduits under the surface of Pleasant Street from Main to Parker. As no one appeared against this petition, the Board voted to grant the same. The Superintendent was authorized to hire the Moth Department to cut the bushes at the function of several streets, according to his specifications. He was also authorized to hire a contractor to put in water and sewer connections which are now needed. The Superintendent was authorized to make arrangements with the contractors doing the Lowell Street -2- July 27, 1923. bridge job to use their steam shovel and extra trucks to get gravel for use on Green, Washington, Village, John and Parker Streets. Mr. Pratt of Summer Avenue appeared before the Board regarding concrete curb in front of his residence. He was informed that the Board would have this built in connection with sidewalk work this Fall and assess him 60% of the coat, the work to be done if this plan was accepted by him.
