HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923-07-06 Board of Public Works Minutes � t July 6, 1923 , Members present: Charles H. Van Stone, Joseph W. Booth, John W. Owen, Clarence C. White and the Super- intendent. Mr. Walton of the Malden & Melrose Gas Light Company appeared before the Board and asked that all notices of street improvement be sent to Mr. Day. He was advised that Woburn Street from the railroad and the west side of the Square to Post Office Square would be rebuilt sometime this year. Voted: To grant gas permits on Oak Street , as per plan on file and other streets as per applications. Mr. E. Robinson of the tSew England Tel. & Tel. Company called in regard to putting a conduit on Pleasant Street from Main to Village. Mr. Louie Flint called upon the Board regarding a town building line on Main Street. Voted: To ad journ.�Seoretary. A (Copied from Progress Report) [ July 6, 1923. ` All present but Chairman. Mr. Walton of the Malden and Melrose Gas Co. reported before the Board by request of the Supt, to go over the system which the Town and that Company will adopt in regard to their future extension of mains. It was agreed that in the future any extension of mains found necessary, a blue print will be submitted with a request so as to make it perfectly plain those portions of streets which the Company intends to open up and occupy. Mr. Elmer Robinson asked if the Board would grant the N.E.Tel. & Tel. Co, a verbal permit to extend their underground structure: on Pleasant St, from k'ain to the Fire Station. Said permit was granted. Mr. Louis Flint appeared before the Board and asked if they had adopted a building line on the east side of Heading Square. He was informed that a building line was contemplated but none had as yet been adopted and the Supt, was informed to notify Mr. Sidebottom, the Building Inspector, to get in communication with the Board before he issued any building permits The remaining highway program for street maintenance was submitted to the Board and approved. It was suggested that in case of filling in streets which need gravel get in touch with some contractor having a steam shovel, hire enough trucks and finish such work as soon as possible.
