HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922-12-15 Board of Public Works Minutes December 15, 1922.
I,%mbers present: George Ii. Clough, Charles H.
VanStone, John W. Owen and the Superintendent.
The matter of establishing a building line on
the east side of Reading Square from Haven Street to
Pleasant Street was discussed at some length by the Board
and the Town Counsel, Judge Lorton. He explained to the
Board that their establishment of a building line would by
no means make said line effective, since the adoption of
such a line would have to come before the Town at a Town
Meeting as a recommendation from the Board of Public Works.
.Mr. Morton also stated that if any one requests
the Board to accept a street, the law states that it is
not within the jurisdiction of the Board to accept, if they
have outside influence pertaining to the acceptance. A
street can only be accepted by a Committee such as the Board
of Public Works when no petition has been presented. In
other words, it must be a purely voluntary act of the Committee
without any outside persuasion.
The Chairman instructed the Superintendent to
mark in yellow crayons on another blue print the lines which
the Board of Survey would recommend for the widening of the
` Square.
