HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922-10-20 Board of Public Works Minutes 9 ? October 20 , 1922. Members present : George H. Clough , Charles H. VanStone, Frederick W. Allen, Clarence C. White and the Superintendent. On motion it was voted: To file a Taking of ' Land of Emma L. Chamberlain and Fred F. Smith for sewer purposes , as prepared by the Town Counsel, a copy of which is on file. The Superintendent was instructed to look up the location of hydrants on Grove Street near Spruce Road and report. The Superintendent was also instructed to investigate the condition of the boiler fronts at the Pumping Station and take steps to have them reset. Voted: To adjourn. Secretary. 4 ,KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that we, the undersigned, being at least a majority of the Board of Public Works of Reading, a municipal corporation situated in the County of L4lddlesex and Commonwealth of Maseachusetts, successors to the duties of the Sewer Commissioners referred to, and provided for, by chapter 314 of the Acts of 1909, do hereby, by virtue of the authority granted by said chapter 314, take for the purposes set forth therein, the land here- inafter described, and hereby specify that the same is taken under authority of said Act. The land so taken, with the names of the respective owners thereof, with a description of the parcel taken from each owner, is as. follows: LAND OF EM:MA L. CHAMBERLAIN Beginning at a point in the westerly line of Ash Street, and by other land of said C)iamberlain, and be- ginning at nearly the southeasterly corner of a right of way over said land of Chamberlain as it now exists; thence the line runs north 78026' 50" west by said other land of Chamberlain, fifty-one and forty-nine one-hundredths ( 51.49) 0 feet; thence turning and running north 63 40' west , still by said other land of Chamberlain thirty-nine and ninety-one one-hundredths (39.91) feet to land now or formerly of Fred F. Smith; thence turning and running south 82058' east six- teen and twelve one-hundredths (16.12) feet by said land of Smith; thence turning and running north 69016' east still by said land of Smith three and sixty-five one-hundredths ( 3.65) feet ; thence turning and running south 63 40' east by other 2. SMITH Beginning at the southeasterly corner of the premises at a point in the line which is a continuation of the course of the Chamberlain land hereinbefore referred to as thirty-nine and ninety-one one-hundredths ( 39.91) feet in length; thence the line running north 630401 west by other land of said Smith forty-two and thirty-three one-hundredths Yr (42.33) feet to other land of said Smith; thence turning and running north 18018' east by land of said Smith eight and eight one-hundredths (8.08) feet to a corner of other land of said Smith; thence turning and running sou';h 630401. east by said other land of said Smith sixty-one and sixteen one- hundredths ( 61.16) feet to a corner by land of Chamberlain taken hereby; thence turning and running south 69016' west by said land of Chamberlain taken as aforesaid, three and sixty-five one-hundredths ( 3.65) feet ; thence turning and running north 82058' west by said land of Chamberlain taken as aforesaid sixteen and twelve one-hundredths (16.12) feet ,.-. to the point of beginning. Containing four hundred and thirty ( 430) square feet. 3. LAND OF FRED F. SMITH Beginning at the southeasterly corner of the premises at a point which is a continuation of the course of the land taken from said Smith which is forty-two and thirty-three one-hundredths (42.33) feet in length as above described; thence the line runs in a continuation of said course north 63040' west two and thirty-six one-hundredths ( 2.36) feet to land now or formerly of Nellie S. Kendall; thence turning and running north 7041' west by said land of Kendall nine and Sixty-seven one-hundredths (9. 67) feet to corner by other land of said Kendall; thence turning and running south 63040' east by said other land of said Smith six and sixty-four one-hundredths ( 6.64) feet to corner by other land of said Smith; thence turning and running South 18018' west by said land of Smith eight and eight one-hun- dredthe ( 8.08) feet to point of beginning. Containing thirty-six square feet. premises taken hereby and above described are shown on a plan made by Dana F. Perkins , C.E. , dated October 10, 1922 ,"showing easement through land of E.L.Chamberlain, Fred F. Smith and N.S.Kendall." The land taken being shown, enclosed and 1n red, on said plan except that the area of two hundred and sixty-two (262) square feet so enclosed and belonging to N.S.Kendall is not taken hereby. KENDALL Beginning at a point which is the southerly end of the course , which is eight-one and eleven one-hundreths ( 81.11) feet in length, and above referred to in the description of land taken from Fred F. Smith; thence the line runs 3.13011W. by other land of said Kendall eighteen and forty one- hundredths (18.40) feet in a line which is a continuation of said course hereinbefore set forth in the description of the Smith land ; thence turning and running 3. 630401E. still by other land of said Kendall seven and -eighty-five one-hundredths ( 7.85) feet ; thence turning and running N. 70411W, twenty-one and sixty one-hundredths (21. 60) feet by land of said Smith to the point of beginning. Being a triangular area of land containing seventy ( 70) square feet. The land above described and taken hereby is shown on a "Plan showing easement through land of F.L. Chamberlain, :red F. Smith and N.S.Kendall, for the purpose of entering main sewer," Made by Dana F. Perkins, C.E. October 28 , 1922 , for the Sewer Department of the Town of Reading, and said plan is to be recorded herewith.
