HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922-04-28 Board of Public Works Minutes April 28, 1922. Members present: George H. Clough, Charles H. VanStone , Frederick W. Allen, John W. Owen and the Super- intendent. Mr. lord appeared before the Board with the com- plaint that the Water Department did not attend to a leak on his property at Spring Street. It was agreed that at the time of repairing same , the leak should be measured, so as to determine the amount of rebate on his April bill. The Superintendent was instructed to investigate the sidewalk on King Street, which is in a precarious con- dition as to the safety of pedestrians. The Superintendent was also instructed to put gravel on Summer Avenue , between Mineral and Woburn Streets. The Superintendent was instructed to look into the cost of buying another truck for the Board of Public Works. The Superintendent was instructed to see Mr. Sweeney, Superintendent of the Highway Department in Stoneham, some- time this week regarding Italian labor. The Superintendent was instructed to stop his present work on the highway of scarifying, scraping and rolling of streets on which Tarvia B will be applied, and begin on Woburn Street from the Railroad Crossing to Summer Avenue , put- ting same in proper condition with the least expense possible. After completing same, if the weather still holds cold, he was instructed to turn the attention of the Highway Depart- ment to High Street, from Middlesex Avenue to Lowell Street . A general discussion of sewer assessment was carried on and the Board agreed that they must carry out the policy that they started , in making no exception of individuals. The meeting then adjourned.
