HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-02-10 Board of Public Works Minutes 193 Reading, Mass. , February 10, 1947 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Teer and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letters from Mr. and Mrs . Edward Weadick and Martin Butt requesting that they be registered as in favor of the acceptance of Curtis Street as a public way. Conferred with representatives of the Wolsey Co. relative to proposed sewer house connection cleanout at rear of their pre- fabricated houses . It was voted to rescind the action of the Board requiring manholes, at the end of the connection and to approve the layout as proposed, a copy of which was filed with the Department. It was voted to recommend to the Town Meeting the acceptance as a public way of Curtis St. from South St. southerly approximately 1,000 ft. and of George St. from Curtis St. westerly approximately 350 ft. Hearing at 7:45 P.M. on proposed pole location on the west side of Main St. approximately 360 ft. southerly from Lafayette Rd. No one present. Location granted. Voted following pole location: Pole on west side of Main St. approx. 587 ft. northerly from Pearl St. moved 17 ft. northerly Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on acceptance of Criterion St. , from Grove St. approx. 720 ft. southerly as a public way. Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on acceptance of Grant St. , from Summer Avenue to Hancock Street as a public way. A proposal was made to end the acceptance at a point 400 ft. easterly from Summer Avenue. Received letter from Selectmen relative to an Article in Town Warrant authorizing Tax Collector to collect all Town Bills. Voted to write Selectmen requesting a conference on the matter. Received cuotation from Security Fence Co. of $445.00 for ' furnishing 127 feet of pipe rail fence which is to be installed on the east side of Main St. Just south of Charles St. Voted to accept quotation.
