Reading, Mass . , October 14, 1946
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs . Davis, Lindsay, Brophy, Putnam and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from Republican Town Committee requesting
permission to hang a banner over Main Street in Reading Square
advertising the candidacy of Mr. Arthur Coolidge.
Voted to grant permission to hang said banner.
Received letter from Greater Boston Community Fund Committee
requesting permission to attach advertising collars to poles in
Reading Scuares .
Voted to grant permission to attach said collars.
Voted to authorize Superintendent to attempt to rehire Jule
Zanni as a shovel operator. Superintendent authorized to offer
him union wages while he is operating the shovel.
Voted to continue the present five-day forty-hour and one-half
hour week until further notice, .
Voted to assume supervision of traffic line marking as
requested by Board of Selectmen.
Voted to install a six-inch water main in Village Street,
south of Washington, for a distance of approximately 200 feet, pro-
vided the petitioner, Mr. James Guttadauro, guarantees to the Depart-
ment a minimum yearly income of fourteen dollars.
Received petition from several residents of Nichols Road
requesting that the said Road be accepted as a public way• Plans
will be prepared and hearings held.

south of. South St. , requesting that this portion of Curtis Street
be accepted as a public way. Plans will be prepared and hearings
held.
Received petition from several residents of George Street
requesting that the said street be accepted as a public way.
Plans will be prepared and hearings held.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved
and placed on file:
Richard Mansur 11 Bond Street
Lawrence Morse 7 Bond Street
George Crouse 21 Bond Street
Joseph McAnulty 59 Middlesex Ave.
Following Granite Curbing applications received, approved
and placed on file:
Voted to hold next meeting of Board on October 28, 1946
after the Special Town Meeting.
Board adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
