HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-05-13 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , May 13, 1946 ' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P .M. Messrs. Lindsay, Brophy and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted to purchase 1946-1947 fuel oil from Petroleum Heat & power Co. , and to authorize the Superintendent to sign contracts for same. Voted to purchase two snow plows . Voted to proceed with taking bids for two trucks . Adver- tised bids for a large truck and invitation bids for a small truck. - Voted to permit the St. Agnes Church to hold a penny sale ' at Washington St. Park, June 21, 1946, or in the event of inclement weather, on June 24, 1946, from 4:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. subject to the following conditions: A. All activities shall be subject to the approval of the Police Dept. B. All installations shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Public Works Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file: Alfred Dolben 17 Bond Street Robert Curtis 186 Bancroft Ave. Mabel Coolidge 210 Summer Avenue William Freeman 23 Mineral Street Following Granite Curbing applications received, approved and placed on file: ' William Freeman 23 Mineral Street Voted to refund $30.00 on House Connection Bill of Wellington Cramer, 51 Prospect Street. iso Voted to abate $7. 50 on April, 1946, water bill of Mrs. Bernard Miner, 42 Bay State Road. Voted to award contract for installation of wooden flagpole and lightening rod on Common to Portland Spar Co. for $1315.00. Voted location to Malden & Melrose Gas Co. at intersection of Haven St. Ash St. and Main St. as per plan No. 75 dated April 11, 1946. Voted location to Malden & Melrose Gas Co. in Wakefield St. near Charles St. as per plan No. 76 dated April 15, 1946.
