Reading, Mass. , December 17, 1945
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at j
7:30 P .M.
Chairman, Messrs . Lindsay, Putnam, Teer, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting were read and approved.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved
and placed on file:
Etta Wylie 34 Puritan Road
Charles Lowell 16 Springvale Rd.
Considered drainage conditions at the corner of Grove Street
and Spruce Road.
Voted to write owner of land at Northeast corner of Grove
St. and Spruce Rd. (McEnroe) to stop draining water from field on
to Grove Street.
Received letter from Federal Works Agency stating that it
will be necessary for Town Meeting to approve aprlication for funds
covering preparation for plans for extension to the Garage. .
Voted to include Article in Town Meeting Warrant of December
27, 1945 requesting approval of application.
Considered 1946 Budget in detail. Budget to be submitted as
amended.
Mr. Neil Robinson of 15 Vista Avenue, Mr. Walter Rydeard of
50 Fairview Avenue, and Mr. Wilfred Kelley of 46 Fairview Avenue,
appeared before Board requesting that a small sized private drain
connecting their cellars to the public drain be cleared of blocks
caused by tree roots.
Board promised to do whatever is possible.

Motion made and seconded to appoint Mr. James Morrow a
ipermanent employee of the Department.
Motion carried.
Mr. Davis requested he be recorded as opposed to the motion.
Mr. Putnam, who had left the meeting earlier, was not recorded.
Voted to hold next meeting of Board, January 9, 1946.
Signed list of sewer house connection betterment assessments
which are to be committed to the assessors.
Received letter from Selectmen stating they had declared an
emergency authorizing the expenditure of funds in excess of the
appropriation available in the Snow & Ice Account.
Board adjourned at 9:30 P .M.
