HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-07-23 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , July 23, 1945 \ The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P .M. Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Brophy, Putnam and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file: Sydney Hodson, Jr. 42 Highland St. John Harrison 109 Bancroft Avenue Alvin Call 27 Mineral Street Following Granite Curb ap,,lications received, approved and placed on file: a John Harrison 109 Bancroft Ave. Alvin Call 27 Mineral Street Hearing at 8:00 P .M. on proposed sewer extension in Summer Avenue from King Street northerly approximately 400 feet. Following persons present: Mr. Alfred Rooney Not in favor Mr. William Tonks - representing the Episcopal Church and also Mr. Harold Cotton In favor for both Voted to construct proposed extension. Mr. Simi Gregorio conferred with Board relative to drain- age off the roof of his property at the northerly corner of Main and Pleasant Streets . Voted to approve installation of pipe under sidewalk on Pleasant Street to allow disposal of drainage in gutter. Received petition from several residents of King Street requesting extension of sewer in Morgan Court and King St. from Morgan Court to Summer Avenue. fJ X2 0 Received petition from Ace Art Co. requesting extension of sewer in Gould St. from High St. to Ace Art Factory. Received letter from Selectmen relative to Town owned lots on Hunt Street. r Voted to inform Selectmen Board has no interest in lots. Received petition from Reading Motor Co. requesting per- mission to install an air compressor pipe under Chapin Avenue. Voted to issue permit with provision that pipe be laid in a conduit. Voted to list telephone of James Putnam under Town of Reading and to assume cost of service. Voted to hold next meeting of Board, August 13, 1945. Voted to hold sewer hearing for proposed extension in Gould Street on August 13, 1945. Voted to purchase two Jungle gyms - one for Birch Meadow Playground and one for Washington Street Playground. Signed water easement for water main in Lakeview Road. Conferred with Selectmen relative to replacing flagpole on Common. Board adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
