Reading, Mass. , June 4, 1945
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs . Lindsay, Putnam, Teer, Brophy, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Lindsay acted as Chairman.
Mr. Carl Anderson, 362 Summer Avenue, conferred with Board
relative to his April, 1944 water bill.
Voted to abate $15.00 on bill.
Received application for sewer extension from Mrs. Iva G.
Enos, 69 Linden Street. '
Mr. Herbert Evans conferred with Board relative to the
requested sewer extension.
Voted to hold hearing for same June 25, 1945•
Conferred with Selectmen relative to securing more office
space.
Voted that June 18, 1945 will be a holiday.
Voted to buy a Burroughs Billing Machine at the auoted
price of $1,997.10 plus some extras at the cuoted price of $196.00.
Voted to give all employees of Department with few exceptions
a twoceek vacation from July 14, 1945 to July 29, 1945.
Considered drainage conditions between Oak Street and
Scotland Road.
No action taken.
• Voted to purchase and install a new vacuum tank at the new
pumping station at a cost of approximately $1,000.00.
Voted to authorize repairs to Pumping Station #2 at a cost
of approximately $1,000.00.

Received two letters from Walter Gerritson, 179 Ash Street,
Waltham relative to proposed play area off Cross Street. Superin-
tendent to notify Mr. Gerritson that Board is interested in pro-
ject and is willing to name play area after his parents.
Received letter from E. Hudson Rogers offering to purchase
old junk in rear of garage.
Voted to sell junk.
Received letter from Barrett Co. quoting 1945 prices for
tar applied to roads.
Received communication from Town Counsel enclosing copies
of Articles for Town Meeting covering removal of vehicles from
Highways during snow storms.
Placed on file until next Town Meeting.
Voted following pole locations: '
Thorndike St. - Poles 89/1 to 89/5 inclusive changed
from T of R to J.O.
Cedar Street - Poles 176/1 and 176/2 changed from
T of R to J.O.
Shipkin Ave. - Poles 177/1 to 177/5 inclusive changed
from T of R to J.O.
Signed Easement for Drainage purposes through land of Town
of Reading at the Northeast corner of Pearl and Charles Street.
Voted to hold next meeting June 25, 1945.
Board adjourned at 9:45 P.M*
