Reading, Mass. , April 23 , 1945
The regular resting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:00 P.M.
Messrs . Lindsay, Putnam, Brophy, and Superintendent Welch
were present.
Visited land- off Cross Street which Walter Gerritson offered
to purchase for the Town as a skating area.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Considered several applications for sewer extensions .
Decided to postpone action until later in year.
Received three letters from property owners.(Frongillo,
Chesley and Miller) on Lakeview Avenue requesting installation of
a water main. This would require a Board of Survey Plan.
Voted to prepare a Board of Survey Plan.
Received following sealed bids at 8:00 P.M. for Five Ton
Truck.
Sterling Motors Co. - Bid on Model H.C. 105 Sterling
Truck as per specifications.
Net price chassis and cab with equipment as reouested $5,081.45
Voted to purchase Sterling Truck as per bid submitted.
Mr. Harold Christenson conferred with Board relative to
fencing of Private Roadway between Washington St. and Christenson
property.
No action taken.
Voted to abate $6.80 on July, 1944 water bill of Josephine
Smith, 30 Willow Street.
Voted to give some street sweepings to Episcopal Church for
filling old cellar hole.

' Received letter from Joseph Knight, Chairman of welfare
® Board, relative to seeding land in rear of 272 Ash Street.
Action deferred.
Voted following pole locations:
Grand St. - Pole 26/4 - changed from N. E. T & T Co.
to Mun. Lt. Dept.
Grove St. - Pole 31/51 - changed from west side of
street to east side of street.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved
and placed on file:
Angie Robinson 77 Bancroft Avenue
Jennie Hinchcliffe 34 Highland Street
Harry Camp 28 Highland Street
Received letter from Town Counsel relative to establishing
by-law to require removal of Snow and Ice from sidewalks by abuttors.
Superintendent to prepare a list of streets proposed.
Board adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
