Reading, Mass. , February 26, 1945
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ,
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Putnam, Teer, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Edward Brophy conferred with Board relative to rental
of tractor to open up road to his lumber mill off Sanborn Lane.
Voted to allow rental.
Voted to request Finance Committee to increase Snow & Ice
appropriation from $18,000.00 to $20,000.00.
Voted to request opinion from Town Counsel relative to
possibility of a Town Ordinance requiring property owners in business '
sections to clear snow from sidewalks abutting their properties.
Voted following pole locations:
Center St. - Poles 12/1 - 12/2 - 12/3 - 12/4 & 12/5
changed from T of R to J.O.
Runt Street- Poles 174/1 to 174/5 inclusive changed
from T of R to J.O.
Park Ave. - Poles 68/1 to 68/4 inclusive changed
from T of R to J.O.
Voted to introduce a motion at Town Meeting for purchase
of equipment which will list the items to be purchased subject to
Governmental approval.
,Received letter from Reading Grange inviting Board to attend
their meeting of February 28, 1945.
Mr. Putnam selected to attend.
Received invitation from N. B. A. to attend a meeting to be ,
held either March 19 or March 26, 1945, to discuss Post War Planning.
Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday evening, March
5, 1945, at 8:30 P.M.

Conferred with Town Counsel on matters pertaining to Town
Meeting motions. -
Voted to invite Mr. Lawrence Crosby, 64 Grand Street, to
the Board Meeting of March 51 1945.
Board adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
