HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-01-22 Board of Public Works Minutes 99 Reading, Mass. , January 02, 1945 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P .M. Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Putnam and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Mrs . Earley, Mrs . Milton, Mr. Duncan, Mr. Killam, Dr. Wescott of School Committee and Mr. E. C. Grover, Superintendent of Schools conferred with Board relative to possible location of proposed new High School in lands adjacent to Birch Meadow. Hearing at 5:00 P.M. on proposed pole location 60/1 on easterly side of Belmont St. 90 feet south of Orange St. opposite property between lands of Surrette and Van Horn. ' No one present. Location granted. Considered case of Harold Barton, 50 Franklin Street, who was found to be by-passing water around the meter at his property. Voted to write Mr. Barton warning him to desist or proper action will be taken by the Board. Considered possibility of eliminating $3.00 advance water charge. No action taken. Received letter from Wendell Bancroft Co. requesting removal of snow from Washington Street near their scales. Voted to inform them that Department will do same after the war and regret that because of shortage of men and trucks Department will be unable to do it now. 100 Received letter from Selectmen requesting Town Report be kept as small as possible. Received letter from Mr. Gilbert Lothrop resigning as a member of the Board of Public Works. Voted to accept resignation with regret. Board adjourned at 9:1$ P.M.
