Reading, Mass . , January 8, 1945
' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Lindsay, Putnam, Teer and Superintendent Welch were
present.
Mr. Lindsay acted as chairman.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Voted to establish salary for operating snow loader at
$1.00 per hour.
Voted following pole locations :
Salem St. - Relocate pole 79/21 four feet easterly
Village St. - Relocate pole 91/5 20 feet northwesterly
Received notice from Selectmen that Articles for 1945 Town
Meeting Warrant must be filed by January 15, 1945.
Voted to purchase a new oil burner for the Hundred Acre
Meadow pumping station.
Haring held at 8:00 P .M. on proposed relocation of lines
and change of grade on P=arl Street from the intersection of
Charles Street approximately 1,300 ft. northerly.
A list of persons who attended hearing is attached hereto
and herewith becomes a part of these records. All persons who
attended hearing were in favor of changes except Ernest Wakefield
who was neutral.
Voted to recommend change in lines and grades to Town.
Voted to approve action of Superintendent in employing
' Jeanette Callan to replace Mrs. Taylor.
Received letter from State Department Public Works stating
that work done under 1944 Chapter 90 Maintenance contract has
been approved.
Voted to cut down certain trees in Birch Meadow to enlarge
proposed play area.
Voted to authorize Superintendent to investigate possibility '
of acquiring a new billing machine and operator.
Voted to abate $18.00 on October, 1944 water bill of Norman
Charles at #1 Haven Street and also to abate $11.00 on the sewer
bill at the same location.
Voted to purchase a meter master so that claims of customers
can be mechanically checked.
Signed plan of relocation on lines and change of grade of
Pearl Street as described above.
Also signed report to Town Meeting, a copy of which is
attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records .
