Reading, Mass. , April 3, 1944
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Davis , Teer, Putnam and Superintendent Welch were
present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved .
Voted to make salaries, granted at meeting of March 22, 19449
retroactive to January 1, 1944.
Received letter from State Dept. of Public Works stating that
they have allotted $1,000.00 for Chapter 90 Maintenance in Reading
during 1944.
Received letter from 0. 0. Ordway requesting $250.00 for
waiver of Gravel Pit Contract provisions similar to the 1943 waiver.
Superintendent to write offering to pay the $250.00 providing the
Department can use the pit during 1944. 1
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed sewer extension in Eaton,
Salem and Pierce Streets.
Following persons present:

Mrs. Laura Adams In favor
It was voted to make the extension as per the plan used at
the hearing.
Voted to advertise for bids for a snow loader.
Bids to be opened at 8:00 P.M. on April 24, 1944.
Mr. Albert .Abbott conferred with Board relative to renting
equipment for levelling ground at his gravel pit off Haverhill St.
Voted to reappoint Philip Welch as Superintendent for 1944.

Received letter from Employers Insurance Group offering
settlement of $11++5.48 for damage to fence at 773 Main Street by
truck accident.
Superintendent to investigate.
Board adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
