Reading, Mass. , January 10, 1944
' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Teer, and Superintendent Welch
were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from Town Counsel stating that it is proper
to use Water Dept. funds to erect an addition to the Garage to
house and repair Water Dept. Equipment.
Considered possibilities of building an addition to the
Garage.
Conferred with Public Works Sub-Committee of Finance
Committee in relation. to 1944 Budget from 8:00 P.M. to 10:15 P.M.
' Mr. Harold Hardy conferred with Board and presented a
petition from the so-called spare men. The petition reauested
a sick leave of 15 days per year and an increase in salary.
Petition taken under advisement.
Received letter from Cleverdon, Varney and Pike reporting
on heating conditions at the Garage.
Voted to approve purchase of repair parts for Barber
Greene bucket loader to cost approximately $600.00.
Voted to retain architect to prepare a preliminary sketch
of a proposed extension to the garage.
Board adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
