Reading, Mass. , May 10, 1943
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs, Lindsay, Lothrop, Tear and Superintendent Welch were
present.
Mr. Tear acted as Chairman.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Hearing held at 8:00 P.M. on a proposed sewer extension in
Pratt St. from Prescott St. southerly, approximately 218 feet.
Following persons were present:
Mr. Leon Quimby - Representing Home Owner Loan Corp. '
In favor of extension.
It was voted to install the sewer as proposed at the hearing.
Received letter from Reading Rationing Board #255 to the
effect that it will be necessary to convert the heating equipment
at the garage from oil to coal.
It was voted to comply with the demand of the Rationing Board
and to take the necessary steps to accomplish the conversion.
Voted to sweep the Square and Haven St. only on Mondays,
Thursdays, and Saturdays instead of every day as heretofore. Also
to omit sweeping both locations on Sundays and Holidays except as
necessary. _
Voted following pole locations:

Received letter from Selectmen relative to obstruction on
the sidewalk in front of F. F. Smith's store on Harnden St. No ,
action taken.
Received letter from State Dept. of Public Works stating
that they have allotted the sum of $750.00 for Chapter 90 Maint.
in Reading during 1943.
Rearing at 8:30 P .M. on the proposed sewer extension in
Hillcrest Road from Scotland Road approximately 100 feet southerly.
Following persons present:
Frank Leary In favor of extension
It was voted to install the extension as proposed at the
hearing.
It was voted to investigate the possibilities of having the
receipts from victory Garden plowing appropriated to this Dept.
Board adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
