Reading, Mass. , January 18, 1943
.� The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
.� 7:30 P .M.
Messrs. Davis, Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Tear and Superin-
tendent were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received opinion from Town Counsel that Water Department
Reserve Funds cannot be used for General Town purposes.
Received petition from Regular Employees requesting (A) a
ten percent increase in salary to be effective for the year 1943
and (B) a sick leave period of one week with pay once a year on
proof of bona-fide sickness.
Discussed petition and financial effect on budget.
Received petition from temporary employees requesting (A)
a ten percent increase in salary to be effective for the year 1943
and (B) two weeks' vacation with pay.
Discussed petition and financial effect on budget.
Voted to allow persons going in groups to the blood bank,
time off with pay to do so.
Voted to authorize Chairman to petition Board of Selectmen
to call a meeting of all the Chairmen of all Town Boards to discuss
matters pertaining to salary increases .
Board adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
