The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M. '
Messrs. Davis, Brophy, Lindsay, Lothrop, Tear and Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Following Granite Curb application received, approved and
placed on file:
Grace Abbott 14 Bancroft Avenue
Received letter from County Commissioners stating they have
allotted $1,000.00 for Chapter 90 Maintenance in 1942 for Reading.
Received letter from Fr. Cutress of St. Agnes Church request-
ing the use of Washington Street Park baseball field every Thursday
1 evening during the coming baseball season.
Permit granted.
Received letter from Town Counsel reauesting the Board to
petition the Commissioner of Corporations and Taxation for per-
mission to Abate $193.82 levied as a street betterment assessment
against the property of Sadie Melville on Colburn Road. The
property has been taken by the Town for non-payment of taxes and
the title perfected.
Voted to so petition the commissioner of corporations and
taxation.
Received letter from Paul Carroll requesting the Board to
remove rocks from land abutting Granger Avenue.
Voted to invite Mr. Carroll and his father to confer with
the Board.
Voted to hold Board meetings on alternate Monday evenings
beginning May 4, 1942.

Several persons conferred with the Board relative to an
open ditch running through the so-called Wescroft Park development. ,
A list of signatures of the persons attending is attached
hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records.
Board voted to take matter under advisement.
Voted permission to Ray Rideout to connect six cellar drains
to the open ditch in the rear of his property on Harrison Street
providing (A) that the drains are laid to the satisfaction of the
Depattment, and (B) that he signs a release from damages in favor
of the Town and the Board.
Board adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
