Reading, Mass . , October 10, 1949
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ,
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Putnam, Walker, and Super-
intendent Welch were present.
Records of two previous meetings read and approved.
Following Granite Curb applications received, approved and
placed on file:
Malcolm Bradbury 42 Deering St.
Henry Harrison 74 Hillcrest Rd.
Received letter from Mrs . Harold Abbott thanking Board for
extending sick leave for Harold Abbott.
Received letter from the Employees Association inviting
members of Board and Superintendent to attend a meeting of the
Association on Thursday evening, October 13, 1949.
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed sewer extension in Oak St.
from Summer Ave. to Hillcrest Road.

Voted to extend sewer in Oak Street from Summer Avenue to
Hillcrest Road.
Conferred with Selectmen relative to bequest contained in ,
the will of the late Dr. Grant.
Agreed to obtain information relative to the cost of
swimming pools and to consider possible location for same in
Memorial Park.

Voted to request the Finance Committee to approve the transfer
of $600.00 from the Reserve Fund to the House Connection Account.
Voted to request the Finance Committee to approve the transfer
of $900.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Sidewalk Account for main-
tenance.
Voted to request the Selectmen to call a Town Meeting the
latter part of November.
Voted to abate the sum of $6.00 on the October, 1949, water
bill of Dr. Edward Halligan, 37 Salem St.
Voted to abate the sum of $6.00 on the January, 1949, water
bill of Arthur V. Frederickson, 266 Lowell St.
Received letter from several persons on Green St. relative
to the ditch in the rear of the properties on the northerly side
of Green St.
Placed on file.
Received letter from Selectmen relative to a street fair
to be held October 12, 1949 on Ash Street near Main Street..
Voted to hold future meetings of the Board on the second
and fourth Monday of each month.
Next meeting consequently will be October 24, 1949.
Board adjourned 10:15 P.M.
